From the Author

The story of The Cure is a remarkable one. The Cure, and Robert Smith, have played to some of the biggest audiences in rock for nearly thirty years. While Smith has remained the one constant in the band, a variety of other musicians have come and gone over the years - some of them leaving and coming back, leaving and coming back again - making them one of the most distinctive, original and entertaining bands of our time. From unfeasibly catchy singles like 'The Lovecats' and 'Friday I'm In Love' to majestic albums like 'Disintegration' and 'Bloodflowers' they have never compromised their, or Robert's, integrity, and have ploughed a furrow of inventiveness unique in their generation. And they have remained an accessible live band throughout all these years. It's an achievement second to none, and after discovering them way back in the early days they have remained for me a fabulous band. And I wanted to try and tell their story. This is no kiss and tell tale, but an up-to-date account of the entire history of the Cure from Crawley to Live8, for Cure fans and anyone interested in the story of one of Britain's, and the world's, greatest bands. I hope you enjoy it.
